Come join us on this 3-day weekend backpack trip in the Manistee National Forest of Lower Michigan. We will meet and drive the club van to Red River Bridge to start our adventure. The 1st day we will hike for a couple of miles on the Manistee River Trail and make camp. This short hike will wet our appetite for the next day’s hike.
The 2nd day will be the jewel of the trip. We will have stunning vistas of the river and the forested west shore. We will cross a wooden replica of the mighty Mackinaw Bridge and continue on the west side of Manistee River. We will cover 8-10 miles on the 2nd day and camp near Eddington Creek on the North Country Trail.
3rd day we will hike the NCT back to the van for the ride to Indianapolis. We will cover 7-9 miles.
The club will provide 2 breakfasts and 2 dinners. Each hiker should be prepared to carry some extra weight as we divide up the group food and equipment. Hikers are responsible for all meals in transit, as well as snacks and lunches on the trail.
We will leave Northern Indianapolis area (Location TBD ) approx. 9am for the 5.5 hour drive.
