Come spend spring weekend admiring the beauty of the waterfalls, cliffs, gorges and rock shelters while hiking the trails at Hocking Hills State Park. Experience the largest recessed cave in Ohio as well as the nearly 100-foot tall waterfall. This is expected to be a slow paced hike as we take pictures and take in the beauty of the park.
Rendezvous details will be communicated later as we’ll be taking the club van. On the way to Hocking Hills, we will be stopping for dinner along the way, which each person will be responsible for. The trip is estimated to be 3 ½ hours driving, so we hope to arrive around 9 pm Friday night. Two state park cottages have been reserved, which are close to each other.
Saturday morning we’ll wake up and enjoy a freshly made breakfast at the cottage before embarking on the trails at Hocking Hills. Hocking Hills consists of 7 main attractions that each have from .5 - 3 miles of trails to reach each attraction. Each has their own parking lot and can be driven to easily. Hiking from the parking lots to each site will total over 7 miles if we are able to see all 7 sites (they will just not be continuous miles). Most of the trails will be lined with cliffs with possible waterfalls. Depending on how much time we are at each site, we can add the rim trails as well. Along the way, we will eat lunch at one of the sites which everyone will be responsible for themselves.
After spending the day hiking, we will come back to the cabins to cook dinner and relax with a fire outside. Breakfast will be provided Sunday before leaving as well. We will stop for lunch on the way home at one’s own expense.
The cost of $185 includes travel in the club van, lodging in the cabin with up to four others, two breakfasts and one dinner. Cabin duties will be shared. Dinner on the drive to Hocking Hills and Saturday lunch is at your own expense.
All trip participants must fill out and submit a CIWC Medical Form and Long Waiver Form.
