Risks on the Water and on the Trail

Join the Central Indiana Wilderness Club for our June Social on June 13, 6:30-8:30pm.  We’ll hear presentations by Warren Rosenthal of the Hoosier Canoe and Kayak Club and Steve Kinch of CIWC.

Presentation 1:  This will be a talk about the dangers of low-head dams. Our speaker, Warren Rosenthal, has had a real life and death experience right here in Indiana and has made it a personal challenge to educate boaters on the hidden dangers of these obstacles.

“I’m dedicated to getting this information out so people can paddle safely and that they never have to experience or perish from these dangerous dams.”

Warren will have a demonstration model that shows how these dams are so dangerous.

Presentation 2:  You’ll hear about a real-life wilderness rescue that happened to one of our leaders and board members.  Find out what happened and why it is so important to prepare and familiarize others in your party as to the wilderness conditions they will be experiencing.

Also learn why it is so important that at least your co-leader and the other members of your party are familiar with rescue techniques as it pertains to electronic devices and wilderness procedures.

Doors open at 6:30 and there will be light refreshments in the corridor outside the auditorium.  (No food and drink allowed in the Auditorium, please).  At 7:00 PM we will assemble in the Auditorium for announcements and the presentations.

Please RSVP (register) to help us anticipate turnout.
