Planning food for your backcountry adventure can be a challenge. You want tasty, easy to prepare meals that are light weight. It’s possible to achieve all of these objectives, but it requires some planning and preparation. This week-end workshop will help you learn various methods for preparing and cooking food in the back country, including, dry mixes, dehydrated foods and specialty ingredients. We’ll taste test our recipes and you’ll come home with sample meals and a cookbook of recipes you can use on your next trip. You’ll leave with enough backcountry meals for long week-end trip and a recipe book for future reference.
To make our week-end even better, we will have the workshop at the beautiful Bradford Woods. The wooded recreation and education property near Martinsville has more than 10 miles of hiking trails to enjoy. We will take a night hike on Friday night and a longer day hike on Saturday while our food is dehydrating. Our accommodations in Agape House will offer us a communal and comfortable environment with a cozy fireplace.
This workshop is designed for our CIWC trip leaders and for any other member that want to enhance their outdoor skills. The price includes two nights lodging in Agape House, all meals from dinner on Friday until breakfast on Sunday, and all food used in the back country meal preparation.
All trip participants must fill out and submit a CIWC Medical Form and Long Waiver Form.
